MR. FATMA ŞAHİNE IS ARZUHALİM

04/08/2014 | Doç. Dr. Ahmet TAN | 442

I went to primary and secondary school in Gaziantep.

I couldn't be in Gaziantep for a while due to boarding school, university education, teaching staff at the university, but I have been living in Gaziantep for the last 12 years.

I was the Regional Director of a public institution for ten years.

Over the last year, I have returned to my old job, to teaching.

I am a person who knows the balances, dynamics and problems of Gaziantep.

As someone who is concerned with the problems of this province, I am trying to do something on my own.

In this sense, as a former bureaucrat and academic, I think I have the right to say a few words about Gaziantep.

First of all, let me state that Ms. Fatma Şahin's job is not easy.

I know that serious decisions have to be taken in order for Gaziantep to rise to the top of the list of livable cities.

In addition, I would like to point out that good things can be done with very simple decisions.

I want these views and suggestions not to be perceived as criticism.

I would like to bring some issues to the attention of Ms. Fatma Şahin, thinking that maybe we will have salt in the soup.

Let's develop the taxi culture in the city

Traffic became a problem day by day. In such cases, where gasoline prices are very high, it is necessary to take advantage of taxis. I think that traffic will be relieved if at least the wage level in Istanbul and Ankara can be achieved in the city.

Let's save water

Water resources in the city are used very profusely. Start campaigns to save water in the city. Provide training on water conservation to housewives, apartment and site officials.

Let's increase the breathing spaces for children and young people

An average of 40,000 babies are born in this city every year. Small social areas should be created where they can spend their energy in order to educate and raise them in a healthy way. Let's build lots of small sports fields in suitable places.

Let's build campus high schools outside the city

We can be much better at education. Let's allocate all the schools in the city center for pre-school and primary education and ensure that campus high schools are built in suitable areas outside the city.

Let's increase the number of central districts

If any kind of administration is to be facilitated, it is necessary to reduce the area of responsibility. If the center of Gaziantep is planned according to the population of 250,000-300,000 and the number of central districts is increased, it will be seen that many problems are managed much better.

Let's save the city from street and site weddings

Noise is one of the most important problems of this city. Join hands with the central district municipalities and make arrangements to meet the needs of the citizens in this regard. Why can't the appropriate halls of many schools in the city be evaluated on weekends?

Let's brand the food and picnic culture

It seems that the most important sector that will keep Gaziantep alive in the long run will be the food and picnic sector. Five or ten years later, local and foreign tour companies will organize tours to Gaziantep just for food, we have to be ready for this. Let's organize picnic festivities. Let's have baklava, kebab, lahmacun, nesting festivals. People give up on everything, but they never give up on food!

Let's train public transport and shuttle vehicle drivers

We are experiencing a very important change in public transportation. However, vehicle drivers cannot keep up with this change unfortunately. For this, if necessary, let's go to the way of benefiting from professional training companies. Do we know that our children learn that traffic violations are very normal from the service vehicles they get on?

Let's open new roads to breathe city traffic

Maybe it will be very costly, but if we want this city to live healthy, we need to build new streets, new connections, new underpasses and overpasses. It is essential to open new roads by convincing the citizens by making very serious expropriations at some points. If these bypasses are not done, the heart of the city will stop! In addition to these, we should definitely take public transportation underground in the long run.

Let's develop the city in a balanced way

Why should all the beautiful buildings be in certain neighborhoods? Why should schools in certain neighborhoods be good? Why should shopping centers be concentrated in certain neighborhoods? If we build high standard buildings in Gazikent or Organized, the citizens who have a job there will not live in İbrahimli! Let's create infrastructures so that citizens can live in the neighborhood where they work.

Let's Lighten the Load of the City Center

I think the city center should be planned for cultural purposes only. I think it would be better to shift places such as banks and business centers from the city center to the suburbs. Let's structure the city center in such a way that only historical bazaars, historical places, gourmet bazaars that make all kinds of Gaziantep cuisine, parking lots, boutique hotels.

Let's Make a Crazy Project for Gaziantep.

What the Eiffel Tower is in France, what the Statue of Liberty is in America, the Prophet in Brazil. What the Statue of Christ is, let's do something in Gaziantep so that it comes to mind when Turkey and Gaziantep are mentioned. So much for this before
