I was born in a village of 6-7 houses.
I went to primary school in the neighboring village, secondary school in Gaziantep, and high school in Iskenderun as a boarding student.
Even though I was a country boy and had many impossibilities, there was a great desire to read.
Sometimes, looking back, I find it hard to understand how this desire came about.
We won the university, did the master's degree, we said that it is not enough, we did the doctorate.
For 10 years, we have done a wonderful task as the TÜİK Gaziantep Regional Directorate.
Then we found ourselves at the university again.
Nothing changes in tempo, desire or excitement!
I never forget an elder's conversation when I was a student at the university.
He said that our elder; especially if only one person in each of the families residing in the villages becomes a university student and finishes the university, that single person can change the face of that village with his family.
Looking back, I can clearly see that this determination was correct.
I was the first student in the village to gain a 4-year faculty.
There have been many winners after me.
Dozens of doctors, engineers, lawyers and teachers appeared in my own village and neighboring villages.
After all this, I will bring the word to the universities.
Personally, I think universities are very important to society.
I have always advocated that universities should enter our daily lives more and intervene more.
40% of our population still lives in rural areas.
It is debatable how much 60% of the people living in the city are from the city.
Universities have a lot of work to do in urbanizing the society.
They should be able to enter all areas of our lives under the name of social sensitivity.
For example; Our universities need to engage in the training of public transport drivers and commercial taxi drivers.
To the site and apartment officials of our universities
Asthma - Wat is het en wat zijn de symptomen
, they even need to attend urbanization trainings for the residents of the flats.
Again, religious officials, teachers, police, municipal police, security personnel, in short, they need to be more active about the people we come across in our daily lives.
A living example is Gaziantep University.
Gaziantep University has shown how sensitive it is by putting social sensitivity projects in the curriculum as a course.
It should reach wider masses with social awareness projects covering not only university students but all of Gaziantep.
These activities may seem very small and narrow in the beginning, but I would like to point out that they can have very important results in the long run.
We have become a fast growing and fast consuming society in every field.
In order to reduce the negative consequences of rapid growth and rapid consumption, we need to devote more time to social awareness trainings.
There is still a lot of work to be done!
